It's a full moon tonight (May 5), so Peter Gabriel is releasing a new song from his long-gestating album I/O. The former Genesis musician co-produced his latest single, "Four Kind of Horses," with XL Recordings owner Richard Russell. The track also features synthesizers from Brian Eno. Hear the "Bright-Side Mix" of the new song below.

"'Four Kinds of Horses' actually began on Richard Russell's project 'Everything Is Recorded,'" Peter Gabriel explained in a statement. "He's a friend, and he asked me to pop into his studio. I came up with some chords, melodies, and words on top of a groove he was working on. We tried a few things that didn't altogether work and so it lay dormant for quite a while. Then I started playing around with it again and changed the mood and the groove and something else began to emerge with a better chorus."

Gabriel also said that Eno's synthesizers "sounded like electric worms to [him]." He continued, "As soon as I heard one I thought they would make a great three dimensional wall paper of sound and asked Brian to create 11 more."

Last month, Gabriel shared I/O's title track. Before that, he released "Panopticom," "The Court," and "Playing for Time." He heads out on tour later this month.
